Town Hall 1873 Centre for the Performing Arts, Port Perry

Built in 1873, the Town Hall Centre for the Performing Arts has been used in a number of capacities over the years. Originally the Township Office, jail and court house, it has also been a theatre, roller skating rink, movie house, fire station and ladies undergarment factory.

In 1973 a group of dedicated residents persuaded the Township Council to lease the abandoned building for 99 years at $1.00 a year rather than destroy it for a parking lot and the Town Hall was again reverted to a theatre. A stage was added but otherwise the hall retained its historic state for nearly three decades.  Bringing Back the Theatre HERE.

The Uxbridge Music Hall is located right in the heart of the town of Uxbridge and is known for its superior acoustics.  The interior of the hall has been restored and the original opera chairs are still in the balcony encircled by the beautiful carved iron railing.  In the centre of the building is the original cut glass chandelier with a diameter of approximately three feet. This beautiful historical facility is air conditioned, making it an ideal facility for spring/summer.

The Uxbridge Music Hall Improvement Fund is a ticket surcharge added to every ticket over the price of $10.00 to aid in the beautification and overall enjoyment of the theatre experience for both the patron and the performer.  This ticket surcharge (currently at $2.00) has funded some great projects which include:  New seat cushions for the balcony seats, re-modelled the front lobby, main floor wall sconces, Re-modelled the box office including purchasing a new monitor, infrared camera, TV monitors for backstage areas, makeup chairs, new clock on the lower level, main floor washroom signage, outside display cabinet, lighting and sound upgrades including wireless microphones and LED movable lights and much more.
