David Vest

“A unique encounter between an authentic southern-bred piano pounder and some of the most celebrated blues musicians in Canada”

David Vest is the real thing, raised in Birmingham, Alabama and the juke joints all along the Gulf Coast. He`s played with Big Joe Turner in the early 60`s, toured with Jimmie “T99” Nelson, Lavalle White and co-lead the legendary Paul deLay Band.

When he moved north of the 49th parallel he entered the Canadian blues scene like a piano falling from the sky with incendiary performances at Edmonton and Calgary blues festivals. Making his home in Victoria B.C. he was enlisted by Bill Johnson to play on the Juno and Maple Blues Award nominated recording Still Blue. In early 2012 he was touring Ontario as a Maple Blues Award nominee and recording his first all-Canadian album.

What came together in Toronto on Mardi Gras Day 2012 wasn`t just history, it was magic. The East Meets Vest tour began in July at the Tremblant International Blues Festival and will continue wherever the road might lead.
