David Gogo

David Gogo had a guitar in his hands at the age of four and by the age of sixteen was working steadily as a professional musician. His influences, Howlin’ Wolf and Son House, drew him to the emotional power and raw depth of the blues. Stevie Ray Vaughan befriended the budding talent, and encouraged him to pursue his passion and commit to become a serious blues artist. Gogo has been honored with the CBC Saturday Night Blues, Great Canadian Blues Award for a lifetime contribution to the blues in Canada. He has also received the Maples Blues Award in both 2002 and 2004 for Guitarist of the Year and was nominated for the 2009 Maple Blues Electric Act of the Year award. David Gogo has been nominated for the year’s Blues Recording of the Year as part of this year’s Western Canadian Music Awards taking place on October 24th in Kelowna. His dynamic style and mesmerizing skill as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and entertainer keeps him centre stage wherever he plays. Sharp in action, dress and wit, Gogo leaves his audience entertained with dazzling riffs, edgy vocals, original tunes and off‐the‐cuff remarks.
